Celebrate the 4th of July with this easy DIY!

Celebrate the 4th of July DIY

It’s almost the 4th of July, so we’re planning a get together with friends for food, fun and fireworks!  We’re keeping it simple with a cookout but I wanted to add a touch of red, white and blue to the table.

So I made these simple stars and stripes mini flags to tuck into flowers for my centerpiece.  The printable is available at the end of this post if you’d like to make them.  It’s formatted with 4 images per page and looks like this when it’s printed.  Just follow the directions below to make 2 mini flags.

To make a flag, you’ll need a bamboo skewer or an 1/8″  dowel, double sided tape and the color copy printed on regular weight paper.  You could also use card stock if you prefer.  Just cut, fold and tape!

If you score the flag on the fold lines for easier folding, make sure you score the print side very lightly with an Exacto knife so you don’t cut all the way through.

After cutting out the flag and completing the 2 folds, secure the dowel or bamboo skewer with double sided tape or a bead of glue as shown below.

When the edges are secured with the tape your flag is finished!  Display it in flower pots on the patio or in table centerpieces for your 4th of July party!

I’ve also included a larger version of the design at the end of the post.  It’s great to use as a t-shirt iron-on transfer so you can wear the red, white and blue!  You can adjust the printable image to fit the t-shirt size you’re using.

Make sure you reverse the image (flip it) on your computer before making an inkjet print on the transfer paper, following the instructions on the transfer paper package.

You can use the designs to make tags for wine bottles or gift bags too!  Just cut the flag design into 4 separate pieces and tie onto the wine bottle or bag.  Cheers to quick and easy party gift tags!

The transfer size printable can also be used as a wall decoration for your 4th of July Celebration!  If you’d like a larger size print the 300 DPI jpg printable can be enlarged at a quick print center or office supply store.  Most 11×17 color copies are less than $1.00 and they can also make oversize prints.

Fire up the printer and the grill and get ready for a star spangled celebration!
